Volunteers Needed…

Dear KTGC Supporters,

Hopefully you can see that our volunteers are doing a great job keeping the greens clear of litter and dog fouling and also looking after Ghost Wood.

However, we’re just looking for a couple of volunteers who live near the Harwich Road entrance to the field by the children’s play area, who would be happy to keep Porters Brook clear of litter to enable the water to flow freely.

This particular section of the brook is just down the steps from the bus stop on the left. Our volunteers are happy to blitz the area and get on top of the situation but the project just needs help from one or two people who pass by this spot on a regular daily/weekly basis.

If you can help please email and someone will get back to you.

We look forward to hearing from you!

Turning a Space into a Place…

A very big
to everyone who came along to our
Planting Day

Picture 003

Picture 006

The morning began

with blue and yellow plastic bags

filled with bulbs

dotted about the place…

Picture 008

Then the volunteers set about digging holes
and planting crocuses, snowdrops and daffodils.

Volunteers worked hard with the planting
before having a well-earned
tea break (with biscuits!)

Picture 013

Local Counsellors Tim Young & Dave Harris
came fully prepared with strimmers and spades.

Bulbs and wild flowers were planted
around trees and along the edge of the slopes.

It was lovely to see local families

getting involved, helping out.

What did we plant?
1000 Crocuses
1060 Daffodils
200  Snowdrops
300  Wildflower plugs

This Planting Day has been a huge success

due to the hard work of a small but dedicated

team of volunteers.

We could not have done this without you!

Welcome to Keep The Green Clean…

These photos show how the green looked in the summer of 2012. We hope that with ongoing support from volunteers we can maintain this level of tidiness so that everyone can enjoy it…

Many thanks to Colchester Borough Council and Street Warden Sam Lancaster for their ongoing support and help with  putting all of the requests/suggestions into action, and for arranging rubbish collections etc. Much appreciated!
